A QEEG Database Method for Predicting Pharmacotherapeutic Outcome in Refractory Major Depressive Disorders
نویسنده
چکیده
This prospective, randomized, blinded, controlled study compared outcomes in chronic, refractory major depressive disorder (MDD) with and without physicians’ prescribing medications guided by electroencephalography-based medication outcome prediction. There were statistically significant differences between the two groups in pretreatment vs. treatment Hamilton Depression Scale and Beck Depression Inventory scores ( <.009) and Clinical Global Impression (CGI) scores ( = .02). Only one of six patients demonstrated clinical improvement with medication choice unguided by EEG data, compared to six of seven patients treated with EEG guidance. Pretreatment EEG data predicted medication response in this pilot study. P P

QEEG Theta Cordance in the Prediction of Treatment Outcome to Prefrontal Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation or Venlafaxine ER in Patients With Major Depressive Disorder.
The aims of this double-blind study were to assess and compare the efficacy of quantitative electroencephalographic (QEEG) prefrontal theta band cordance in the prediction of response to 4-week, right, prefrontal, 1-Hz repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) or venlafaxine ER in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD). Prefrontal QEEG cordance values of 50 inpatients (25 subje...
متن کاملQuantitative electroencephalography (qEEG) to discriminate primary degenerative dementia from major depressive disorder (depression).
Electroencephalography (EEG) can be a valuable technique to assess electrophysiological changes related to dementia. In patients suspected of having dementia, the EEG is often quite informative. The sensitivity of the EEG to detect correlates of psychiatric disorders has been enhanced by means of quantitative methods of analysis (quantitative EEG). Quantitative features are extracted from, at l...
متن کاملEconomic evaluation of resistant major depressive disorder treat-ment in Iranian population: a comparison between repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation with electroconvulsive
Background: It is estimated that major depression disorders constitute 8.2% of years lived with disability (YLDs) globally. The repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) and Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) are two relative common interventions to treat major depressive disorders, especially for treatment resistant depression. In this study the cost- effectiveness and cost-utility of r...
متن کاملDistinguishing Quantitative Electroencephalogram Findings between Adjustment Disorder and Major Depressive Disorder
OBJECTIVE Adjustment disorder (ADJ) is a common diagnosis. However, it is difficult to distinguish ADJ from other major Axis I disorders, such as major depressive disorder (MDD). The aim of this study was to determine the distinguishing neurophysiological characteristics between ADJ and MDD using quantitative analysis of an electroencephalogram (QEEG). METHODS The study included 30 patients w...
